Kristi started dancing when she was 3 years old. She danced jazz, hip hop, and her favorite style of dance, ballet. When she realized she wanted to take ballet more seriously, she moved to a studio at which ballet was their main focus of dance. She began her serious ballet training at age 7, learning the Cecchetti method under the direction of Ms. Chelle Degrasse. After training under the Cecchetti method for 5 years, the school hired a new teacher. She then began learning the Russian method under the direction of Mr. Nikolai Balantsenko. Kristi feels that having learned both methods helped her immensely when auditioning for companies. She quickly picked up on which method the company focused on, and adapted her style to the best of her ability to match that of what the company was looking for. Kristi earned merit scholarships to Boston Ballet, The Richmond Ballet, Miami City Ballet, and was selected for a Trainee position with the Joffrey Ballet Company in Chicago. Kristi has an extensive performance repertoire. She has performed as “Aurora” and “The Lilac Fairy” in “ Sleeping Beauty”, “Odette” (the black swan) in “Swan Lake”, “Raymonda Grande Pas De Deux” in “Raymonda”, “Clara”, “Snow Queen” and “The Sugar Plum Fairy” in “The Nutcracker.” Kristi found her passion for teaching in 2014 when she moved back home to Fredericksburg. She is currently the Director of The Fredericksburg City Ballet Company, at which she has staged full length ballet’s such as “Sleeping Beauty”, “Don Quixote” and “The Nutcracker.” Kristi is so happy to continue sharing her love and passion for ballet with the Polaris family.
